A Real Hurricane Bride's Story

April 6, 2018

As hurricane season approaches and news reports an above average hurricane season ahead of us
this year I think of all of my couples. When it comes time for my couples to check off wedding
insurance on their checklist they always ask “Do I really need that?” My heart drops as I think of
Mariana and Christopher along with all of the brides who have recently lost their venue or a
vendor due to circumstances beyond their control.

You have put a significant amount of time and money into making this the best day ever. I always
tell my couples “For less than you spent on napkins you can protect your investment.” I know that
it is a scary thought that most of you would rather avoid and it is also very confusing but please
take a moment to read my blog on wedding insurance. I hope that it helps to clear a few things up
and leads you to make a decision that will bring you peace of mind.

Two weeks before Mariana's dream wedding was scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico, where
her family lives, Hurricane Irma hit. Mariana contacted me just days after Hurricane Irma
destroyed her venue.  Not only was her dream wedding, which was already paid for, destroyed
but Mariana was unable to contact her family. She suffered several days of fear before
discovering that her family was safe. Mariana contacted me right after the safety of her family
was established to rebuild her wedding here at home.

We met at her new venue, the Avila Golf and Country Club, in Tampa. We cried together over
coffee and started to rebuild her dream wedding. In less than a week we succeeded recreating her
dream wedding.

Her family flew in from Puerto Rico and her wedding was, not only the celebration of the
beautiful love between her and Christopher but, a heart-warming celebration of a family safely
reunited.
